So I got my findings back I will be permanently retired. Now that I have my findings, I have a bunch of questions.. what are the Benifits of permanently retiring? and how long does it take after signing your findings to get separation message and a new EAOS date? Super curious about this.. mainly because I need to know when I can accept a job or not. This is for NAVY

Can't help you on the timeline part but the main benefit is tricare for you and your family for life along with a guaranteed pension for life. So regardless of other benefits the chapter 61 retirement you receive will be the least you can get paid for the rest of your life. Any VA disability money received you agree to offset your pension so its possible to just get tricare and VA compensation only if your pension amount is small and your VA compensation is high. The only Soldiers who can get both their pension and VA disability are those who qualify for CRDP which is when you get both but you must have earned a 20 year retirement or retired through TERA.

@PERS-95 may be able to assist with the timeline on getting separation message and new EOAS. I’m sure the PEB index being sent to NPC may get delayed by possible civilian furloughs though.

Right now PEB is taking roughly 1 to 4 weeks to process your package after you sign your findings, and send it along to NPC. If there is a government shutdown at the start of the new fiscal year, that timeline will be extended. Once NPC gets your index, you can expect a separation message within a couple of days. Your separation date will be 46 to 61 days out.

Hey! Just wondering how long was the entire process for you? I currently have one VA appointment left. I am ready to leave Virginia lol Thanks!

It’s not LONG but it’s long. I would try not to think about it too much to be honest. It took me two months after my VA appointments to be found unfit by MEB, and for my case to be sent to PEB. And another 3 1/2 months after my case got sent to the PEB to receive my findings. After about a month and a half after your case gets sent to PEB, check the VA website to see if your case is closed. If it is call the VA or your attorney to see if they can give you a VA Percentage. If they can that’s how you’ll know if you’re unfit or not. The dod ratings is what takes the longest

Have you gotten your separation message / sep date yet?

Yes my command called me and told me today my new EAOS date
Interesting, I signed my findings a 21SEP and still haven’t heard. @PERS-95, sorry to bother you, but do you know if it’s different for officers or anything? My NSIPS doesn’t even show an original EAS/EAOS much less an updated one.

No difference at PEB and the separation message for officers, but orders process is different.

Also different if you are RC.

Officer orders chop goes through more people, such as community manager and detailer.
Makes sense. Talked to my detailer today, so hopefully have orders sometime next week. Thanks for all of the help!
