Case Started May 4
Appt with Peblo May 31
Finished VA appts June 15th
Sent to PEB June 23
Accepted by PEB June 28

I see a lot of people have been getting their ratings and etc back within about 2 months. Should I expect I will get mine soon as well? I'm trying to figure college out and my life afterwards. I only have about 10 claims so I don't expect it to take to long VA side. Can anyone give me some tips? I appreciate anything in advance and will update my timelines as I go.

My PEB was accepted June 12 and my claims were supposedly closed July 14th and everything was sent back to the PEB Aug 2nd for then to finalize and then send to PEBLO. Still radio silence from my PEBLO. I am in CA though.

I'm not sure if they'd be the same PEB or VA. My Peblo has been pretty on top of everything Thankfully. He's currently on leave but will be back tomorrow from what I am told. I called the MSC and he's trying to say I won't hear back till January or beyond. Which is different from what my Peblo has said. And from what these forms are saying that ive read so far its even quicker then that. How did you get the exact dates btw? The VA keeps telling me the same thing over and over lol.

I know the date the PEB accepted my stuff from MOL. The other dates I know because I sent a message to the VA and they sent me the below response.

Hmm. Idk if I'd get a letter sent home. They keep telling me it's in the decision phase but I don't know if I've been found unfit or not. It's been about a month and a half and from the looks of it the PEB should have made a decision from looking at the tinelines on the forms. I got a call with VERA Thursday so I'm hoping to learn more. Awfully stressful tho. They keep us in the dark way to much with this haha

We are all in dark lol. I called VERA today and the lady was nice but couldn’t help. Not all VERA workers have good knowledge maybe you will be lucky.

True. I actually plan on calling the actual PEB tomorrow as well. I found a number online and it says it's for them. I've read people actually have called the PEB thru out some of the forms that are older so I can only hope. If it goes well I'll post it on here.

Let me know how the call goes, but FWIW, I got my letter from the VA today. It said they got my claim on April 3rd (I finished my VA appointments on April 25th) and it took until the 27th for them to finish the claim for approval, and about 10 days and then was sent out yesterday back to the PEB. My case was sent from the MEB phase out to the PEB phase on June 2nd, so it kinda looks like it took the VA 3.5 months to finish the claim.

Per the letter they sent, it says: “Your military service department requested a disability assessment from VA because you were found unfit for continued military service…… We are proposing that your total combined rating for service-connected disabilities is XX%…… We provided a copy of your proposed rating decision to your service department’s Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officer (PEBLO) [which I’m assuming is the PEB’s PEBLO to the VA and not my PEBLO. Lmao]”

So basically what I gather from this is the PEB said, “this dude is unfit,” and then just had to wait for the VA to finish up, and now it’s back to the PEB to send out the findings.

I wouldn’t worry too much about the length of time, cause I think you possible have another month or so until the VA finishes up (sorry). There’s like 6-9 steps to the decision phase I found out.

So I’m hoping to hear from my PEBLO re: the official findings in the next 2-3 weeks (I feel like @Blowjanglez should be any day or week now, but I’ve seen horror stories if you search in the forum where PEBLOs forget to tell folks, so idk how that works.

I appreciate it! I assumed it would prolly take time at the VA but they got me all confused on the call I had with them. They told me 2 separate things with 2 seperate calls and my MSC tried saying theyre taking close to 9-12 months so I figure go to the main source which would be the PEB. I'll definitely upload how well it goes with the call as well I'd like to get anyway for anyone who goes thru this process as well a way to get more information for themselves and possibly track it more.

So i already have my proposed % only because I requested it from the Va via email. I guess my case has been at the PEB now for a while lol. My leave started today I’m gonna laugh my ass off if the day I start leave I get a call. Also 9-12 months probably meaning entire process the VA recently erased their backlog for USMC and NAVY I don’t think the PEB itself for each branch has a backlog.

Wait by leave do you mean terminal or just regular? I was thinking of taking some but I'd rather wait till I at least get my ratings back so I don't miss signing it. And ya I saw that the VA erased their backlog. That's why I'm hoping for the best. Thankfully, my command is letting me do my checkout process already. Mainly cuz I'm pretty much useless with my injury lol

Yea I’m just taking 5 days of leave because I had a lot of it. I haven’t decided though if I want to use all my leave + PTAD for terminal. I’m considering taking every Thursday and Friday off till my PTAD if it’s approved.

What exactly is PTAD in regards to this. I know it may sound stupid but I don't exactly understand it.

PTAD is used for many reasons but in our scenario it would be for house hunting and job hunting. If you got to your S-1 (admin) once you have a new medical separation date and get it approved then you’ll have 20 days of PTAD basically you can get out early so you can figure out ur life while still getting paid. I don’t remember if you are marine or not but if you are you can go on MOL and go to make a leave request there is a drop down for types of leave and PTAD is one of them.

Ohhh alright that makes sense. Now what about home awaiting orders? I'm thinking of looking into that possibly. My peblo said it wouldn't effect the board. Also I am a Marine.

I wish I could get whoever you talked to on the phone because literally every time I call they tell me they either can't email me my ratings or say they will and never do. Quite literally the most frustrating thing at this point.

I mean the peblo said it in regards to when I get the findings from them to sign. But he said if thats the case if im found fit then id have to come back. Which I'm told if I was found fit i woud know by now. Also for the number to call it is the actual peb number but it currently is only going to voice-mail.

Also I know this is late but how did you request the letter?

I submitted an inquiry message on the VA website. Word to the wise is the response I got in that message was 100% different then what the person I spoke to on the phone said just a few days prior.

Ya they always say the same thing to me. About how it's in the decision phase and they are working on it. It's been that way for a Lil over a month. So I'm curious on if making a inquiry is better to get some info.
