Based on:

FEV-1 of 56- to 70-percent predicted, or; FEV-1/FVC of 56 to 70 percent, or; daily inhalational or oral bronchodilator therapy, or; inhalational anti-inflammatory medication. 30%

Is Singulair considered a daily bronchodilator if taken daily?

Singulair is NOT a broncodilator. It works on allergies. Asthma sometimes is a response to allergies.

Short-term bronchodilators include:
  • Albuterol (Proventil® HFA, Ventolin® HFA, ProAir®HFA, Accuneb®).
  • Levalbuterol (Xoponex® HFA, Xoponex® nebulizer solution).
  • Albuterol and ipratropium bromide combination (DuoNeb® solution, Combivent Respimat®).

Long-term bronchodilators include:

  • Salmeterol (Serevent®).
  • Formoterol (Foradil®).
  • Combination medications: salmeterol and fluticasone (Advair®); formoterol and budesonide (Symbicort®); formoterol and mometasone (Dulera®); vilanterol and fluticasone (Breo®); salmeterol and fluticasone (Wixela Inhub ®); and salmeterol and fluticasone (Airduo ®). These contain both the long-acting beta agonist and an inhaled corticosteroid.

It’s hard to get the 30% from 10% I take Advair twice daily. And VA has declined my increase to 30% twice. Because FEV-1 is 79.

I mentioned in my C&P that I use my albuterol inhaler daily and my proposed rating for asthma came back at 30%. It specifically stated it was because I use an inhaler daily.
