Here is my timeline (Patrick) to help anyone out through this process. Was told this will take 6-7 months
  • May 8: Notice of CC impact statement due and sent to me and leadership.
  • June 11 PEBLO emailed me about full MEB being directed and sent forms to fill out.
  • June 12 IDES briefing w/PEBLO
  • June 14: MSC called for phone interview and to fill out forms & submit claims
  • June 17: SHA and other claims forms sent to MSC. He is working now to officially submit my claims to the VA.
*Potentially unfitting diagnoses from initial IRILO: Lumbar Spondylosis.

*VA form 526EZ I HAD A TOTOAL OF 49 items that I’m trying to claim.

July 8 3 hour telephone meeting with practitioner to go over DBQs and 42 items that I claimed.
July 10 Audio Specialty Appointment completed
July 15 Va General Medical Appointment to go over all 42 things claimed plus MEB primary condition. Was told to expect this appointment to be 4-8 hours. The appointment lasted less than 2 hours, so not sure what to take from the experience. I’ve done really well going to the medical and having everything on record so maybe the phone appointment plus my records sufficed.
July 18 Optometry appointment scheduled
Aug 1 Behavioral Health exam (was supposed to be on July 12, but provider was sick).

Update
July 18:
Optometry completed
July 29: Xray for sinuses
Aug 01: Behavioral Health completed
Aug 06: Labs Scheduled
Aug 26: EKG

*Only optometry and reimbursement for mileage has shown up on Tricare. I claimed close to 40 things (most related to back injury and mental health) and they took roughly 20 or so to be evaluated. No updates on anything else.

Aug 26: EKG Competed
As far as I know, this was the last VA appointment scheduled by OptumServe. I Reached out to my VSO about the two DBQs from my first two appointments not showing in Tricare. I’ve heard nothing, so I suppose I’m just in the waiting period for my VA ratings. All other DVQs have been uploaded, to include the EKG result.

I recommend giving whoever did the two DBQs a call. I had to do that because QTC wasn't reaching out and trying to get it from them. After that it was uploaded the next day.

Awesome, it was the hearing and the general head to toe exam. I’ll reach out and hopefully gain some traction with this

I definitely recommend that, my case lost traction for two weeks until I got involved and they had it up the next day lol. Bout to tell QTC to put me on payroll if im gonna be doing their job for them

Yeah, I called OptumServe and they directed me to VA. VA told me that all DBQs are submitted to them on their end, but to do a records request for the two I don’t have in Tricare. Good to know that all documents are with the VA, sucks that I’m now waiting for the decision process.

Good luck. Just read through all my DBQs and the C&P that covers all claims head to toe, just marked me as good on everything and stated she couldn’t find anything in my records. I’m literally running around today to figure out the issue. Everything is in my records, it’s why I claimed over 20 conditions including the main MEB condition for my back. This is a headache. My advice, double check that your medical team has all records on file. This C&P examiner (family nurse practitioner mind you) clearly did not check my records and stated my back has no issues. I was slotted for back surgery, have MRIs, a highly rated spine surgeon diagnosed me with several issues in the back…all other issues are documented in my health records. I’ did a full records request before filling out the docs for my claims. So I know it’s all there, and my VA rep won’t answer and my PBLO says he can’t do anything

This really is one of those worst case scenarios, my advice to you is prepare to appeal whatever it is they give you. Gather all the documents and records needed to prove that what the examiner is claiming is incorrect... Best of luck!

I’m going around now collecting documents and have all MRIs for the back etc. I just hope this first set of C&Ps don’t influence when or if I do a second round. She wrote that I lacked effort on the ROM and I could walk just fine from waiting room to exam room which is odd. With my injuries I’m in a constant state of pain. I don’t need a cane or walker, but my hips literally feel like they’ll explode, both legs in pain, discs move on each other like wet stones. If she actually read my MRI, I wouldn’t be in this situation. My PBLO said he can’t do anything, so I feel like I have to go through the whole process just to appeal and do it all over. It truly makes you feel crazy

  • Sept 6: VSO called to confirm claims are with VA and are in “initial review.” VSO said it would be 60-90 days until a decision was made for rating.

*lessons learned thus far:
-Check and double check med records. Medical has lost mine twice, so I’ve been really good at making sure mine are solid. On that note I missed a crucial part, and did not realize my neurosurgeon had not uploaded the records and diagnoses from their office. This explains why my DBQ for my back said nothing found; however the family nurse practitioner doing my C&P exam didn’t look hard enough because there is an MRI for my back listing all conditions I had put on my DBQ, not to mention 13 years of recorded visits and procedure for my back. I digress.

-Do not review your DBQs. This will cause misunderstandings and anger. Listen to your VSO and do not check your DBQs.

-DBQs are not the final say, VA raters will do their due diligence (hopefully) and question incomplete or inaccurate DBQs from your C&P exams that do not line up with your records, they will call you, medical or med records for any questions or gaps….or so says my VSO.

- Finally, hurry up and wait, listen to your VSO, and know that you can always appeal.

Hi, I'm also at Patrick. The PEBLO here has been difficult to get in touch with, but my CIS was just sent up to AFPC. How long did it take to hear back from them?

Hear back from AFPC or the PEBLO? PEBLO called me a couple of days ago to inform he was compiling everything for the board and I should see an email this week to sign some things. Then he said 2-4 weeks I should hear back about DOD determination and VA. My VSO said VA process of reviewing and making the decision would be 60-90 days; however, the PEBLO here said with their experiences it’s usually around the time DOD has their decision ready (2-4weeks). What is “CIS”?

CIS…Commander Impact Statement. I believe mine took about a month before I heard back from the PEBLO. If you look at my time line at the beginning, you’ll see kind of what to expect.

Thank you for posting your timeline. I am currently stationed at a GSU attached to Patrick SFB. According to my PEBLO (Matt) my package was supposed to be sent up to AFPC last Friday or maybe today. I am eager to receive that FL-4, so I can start Skillbridge and make good use of my time left. I am sharing my timeline as well. Stay strong boys and girls.

I received an email from AFPC stating I'm in the PEB process starting today. Hopefully we hear results pretty quickly, my V.A claims are in the decision stage currently so I am a little ahead of you in that part.

How long did it take for you guys to receive your FL-4 after the IRILO package was sent up to AFPC? How long was it between your IRILO package was submitted until you heard back from PEBLO confirming you entered the full MEB stage?
